Stark's body rejected the change and dies in Zoeys arms, not before
kissing her and saying he'll come back to her... Neferet brought him
back and with that made him into an evil mass murdering Red Vampire who
hissing when he talks. He then later turns to good thanks to Zoeys help,
and that's when they fall in love and he becomes her Warrior.
p.s. Duchess was his dog when he was alive.
Duchess's
howl of agony and her pitiful whines that followed will be forever
imprinted in my mind with my first sight of the new Stark. He moved
forward like a ghost. His skin was eerily pale, and his eyes the red of
old blood. The crescent on his forehead was red, too, like the
fledglings who filled my circle, but he was different than they were.
The thing Stark had become stood there beside Neferet, glaring, madness
shining in his eyes. Looking at him, I felt like I was going to be sick.
"Stark!" I meant to call his name loud and strong, but it came out of my mind as little more than a broken whisper.
Still
he turned his face in my direction. I saw the blood color in his eyes
fade, and for just a moment I thought I glimpsed the boy I knew.
"Zzzzoey..." He said my name in something like a hiss, but it gave me an instant of hope.
I took a stumbling step toward him. "Yes, Stark, it's me," I said, trying hard not to cry.
"Ssssaid I'd come back to you," he murmured.
I
smiled through the tears that were filling my eyes as I moved closer
and closer to where he stood just outside the circle. I had opened my
mouth to tell him it'd be ok, that somehow we'd figured out a way for it
to be okay, but suddenly Aphrodite was there beside me. She grabbed my
wrist, pulling me back from the edge of the circle.
"Don't go to him," she whispered. "Neferet is setting you up."
......
Neferet
turned to Stark. "Aim for the true mark - the one that will make the
earth bleed. Now!" Neferet commanded him. I saw him pause like he was
fighting against himself. "Do as I command, and I will give you your
heart's desire." Stark's eyes blazed red and with the swiftness of a
striking snake, he lifted the bow I hadn't noticed he was holding at his
side, sighted an arrow and shot.

Destined Book - 9
Chapter 29 page 316
~This
scene I'll try to explain the best I can :) Kalona - an immortal angel
that was once the guardian of the all mighty goddess Nyx. She banished
him to earth because he became possessive
of the goddess.. a big no no. So he fell to earth and raised his
"Children" a group of young men that are called Raven Mockers.. Half man
half Raven (my favorite characters!) His "son" is called Rephaim. He
fell in love with the "Red One" aka Stevie Rae and Nyx gave him the
right of being human at night and raven by day. So him and Stevie Rae
would be together. Kalona disapproved and wanted nothing more to do with
Rephaim (on the surface). The Bull is Evil in its purest form, the bull
is one of the greatest enemies in this series! So when Stevie Ray calls
Kalona (on a newly given iPhone - he knows nothing of human technology)
and hears that his "son" is in trouble he rushes right to him. Nisroc
is another one of Kalonas sons, introduced in Destined.
Kalona
cleared his throat, and looked away from the creature he'd created in
anger and lust. "Go on. Join your brothers. I command it of you."
"Yesss, father."
Kalona
listened to Nisroc's wings beat against the wind. He tilted his head up
so that he could watch his son disappear into the night.
It
was when he was alone that the phone began to ring. Feeling decidedly
foolish, he lifted the thing from the rock he'd left it on the night
before. The display said Stevie Rae. Without hesitation Kalona tapped
the accept button and put the phone to his ear.
"Help Rephaim! The bull's gonna kill him!" The Red One's voice shouted above a terrible swell of sounds.
There was a crackle of static and the connection went dead.
Kalona's
body was moving before his mind fully processed his decision. He
launched himself into the air, gathering with him the ethereal wisps
that drifted from the Otherworld to form invisible currents in the
mortal sky.
"I
call upon the power of the spirit of ancient immortals, which is mind
by birthright to command. Take me to the blood of my blood, the son of
my spirit. Take me to Rephaim!"
~
This part gave me chills! if you read before this chapter there is so
much going on and it really just makes you hopeful on the relationship
between Kalona and Rephaim... I love them :) And if you have read this
book, you'll know at the end what Kalona does... Ok now I really want to re-read these books haha :)
